Lianjiang Zhu (b.1997, China) is a multimedia artist based in London and China.
He utilizes moving image and performance media to explore themes of identity, projection, fantasy, power structures, fictive realities, and heritage within digital landscapes, reflecting the uncertainties of digital processes and the lack of authenticity. His practice uses the body as a metaphor, continuously replicating, multiplying, and imitating through an unstable process of deconstruction and reassembly, revealing the ever-increasing invisible surveillance forces behind social, political, and technological advancements.
His works often employ the imagery of anonymity, masks, invisibility and disappearance, and self-performance, questioning, and exploring the possibilities of reconstructing narratives. They record the implicit scrutiny and violence, transformation and acceptance of transformation, disorder, and the loss in the process of individuals seeking freedom.
